Autopsy - Severed Survival (1989)

Severed Survival was an epic album from this legendary band, Autopsy. I think they were incredibly amazing could combine all these catchy songs to one pack. It has 11 song and I enjoyed it. All of it!!!

The atmosphere on this album is hideous, ugly, disgusting, and vile. They somehow managed to capture the sonic essence of all of the grotesque subject matter of the album. I think a lot of it has to do with the production. It's raw, a little murky, with razor sharp guitars and the bass high in the mix, thumping away like a diseased human heart about to give up. I would call the music mid-paced speedy death metal. The thing is, nothing on the album is boring. It's pure energy, from start to finish. Every riff, every lead, every kick on the bass drum, it's all flawless, relentless power. This is a thrilling album. It's primitive death metal, for sure. You certainly won't find any technical acrobatics here, but what is here is a collection of exciting, in-your-fucking-face death metal. (quoted from OMG PILLS NOMNOM on metal-archives.com)

Really mate, This album so classic and badass. I agreed with omg pills nomnom, "nothing on the album is boring". Start with Charred Remain, then Ridden with Disease and Pagan Saviour will crush your head in the half-length of the album. Also, don't miss that fucking Severed Survival. It will makes your head severe from your useless neck, and finally ended with Stillborn.

You know, what I loved from most of old death metal album is just one thing. They seems like Thrash metal. You know, the beats.... I think the sound is like dum tak dum tak dum tak. Well, i think it's not a bad example, right? The point is they just sounded like death thrashy metal and of course it's really not easy to find death metal band who still play like that lately. Yeah, mate... Virus of death core and metal core spread quickly and poisoned younger metalhead and that's why "you know what i mean".

Enda Miller from deathmetal.org also said Severed Survival is a conceptually flawless album that offers insight, contrast, and dynamic through its expert use of eclectic influences and moreover, succeeds in synthesizing musical and lyrical expression to form a complete experience also made possible through the phrasal composition inherent in the songwriting of all good death metal. Drawing on Celtic Frost and the simple power chord progression that made the latter’s work so completely unified and clear, synthesizing it with heavy metal’s tendency to express impending doom through the use of slower meditative riffs, and drawing on the frantic and schizophrenic lead guitar work of proto-death metal or speed metal giants, such as Slayer, Autopsy on Severed Survival executed an effectively simple, dynamic and epic work whose elements united to create a gripping journey that remains to this day, compelling, interesting and perspective altering. Highly recommended!

I think, it's really an important thing to keep listening to old death metal music, especially for young metalheads (me too... young and dangerous ;>), it will makes us know where do we from and respect an old thing.
